Event information

Large crowds are expected to attend the annual Crows Nest Fest on Sunday 20 October. Public transport is the best way to get to the event with trains and buses running regularly to Crows Nest.  

The festival will be held on Willoughby Road, Clarke Street and Hume Street which is a short walk from Crows Nest metro station and St Leonards train station. However, please note that due to planned weekend trackwork, metro services are not running between Tallawong and Sydenham and buses replace metro between Tallawong and Chatswood only. You will need to catch a replacement bus between Tallawong and Chatswood metro stations and connect with a train to St Leonards instead.

Remember, you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.

If you’re driving, parking is available at a number of public car parks in the area, along with limited local street parking. Plan to arrive early to secure a parking spot and allow some extra travel time for increase traffic in the area. You can find real-time traffic conditions at livetraffic.com. 

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

More ways to pay

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city. 

The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go metro services in both directions between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham. 

Please note that due to planned weekend trackwork, metro services are not running between Tallawong and Sydenham. You will need to catch a replacement bus to travel between Tallawong and Chatswood stations, then connect with a train service to St Leonards. If you are travelling from the city, catch a train to St Leonards instead. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

The closest station to the event is St Leonards on the T1 North Shore Line and T9 Western Line. The event is a short walk from the station.  

Trackwork 

Planned weekend trackwork is taking place on Sunday 20 October on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner

  • M1 Metro Line: Metro services will not run between Tallawong and Sydenham. Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only. Use train services between Chatswood, the City and Sydenham. 
  • Hunter Line: From 10pm to 1.30am, buses replace trains between Newcastle Interchange and Telarah.

A number of regular Sydney Buses run to Crows Nest on weekends.  

Bus diversions  

Due to road closures, route 114, 115, and 263 bus services will be diverting around Willoughby Road and using temporary stops from 12:01am to 11pm on Sunday 20 October. Bus customers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow plenty of extra travel time on the day and be patient as delays are expected.  Plan ahead using the Trip Planner

Catch one of the many ferry services to Circular Quay then walk to Wynyard to connect with trains to St Leonards. Alternatively, catch a train to Central when you can connect with metro services to Crows Nest.  

Keep in mind Sydney Ferries are a great way to get around but services are very popular, especially on the weekends.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

At Central, change for a train to St Leonards to get within short walking distance of the event.

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines

L2 Randwick Line light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford Line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using Trip Planner.

At Central, change for a train to St Leonards to get within short walking distance of the event.

Roads in the area will be closed to safely facilitate the event. Traffic is expected to be heavier on detour routes and on roads approaching the area.  

If you’re driving, plan to arrive early to secure a parking spot and allow some extra travel time for increase traffic in the area.  

Road Closures 

The following road closures will be in place from 12.01am to 11pm on Sunday 20 October:

  • Willoughby Rd between Burlington St and Albany St  
  • Willoughby Rd (one-way) closed from Burlington St to Falcon St  
  • Clarke St between Willoughby Rd and Oxley St  
  • Clarke Ln between Hume St and Oxley St  
  • Burlington St between Willoughby Rd and Willoughby Ln  
  • Holtermann St between Willoughby Rd and Zig Zag Ln  
  • Hume St between Pacific Hwy and Pole Ln  
  • Hume Ln between Clarke Ln and Pole Ln  
  • Zig Zag Ln closed near Burlington St

Car parking spaces will fill early so attendees are encouraged to leave the car at home and to catch public transport. If you have to drive, allow plenty of extra travel time and plan to arrive early to secure a car space.  

Limited local street parking is available in roads surrounding the event. Public parking is available at the below locations, a parking fee may apply: 

  • Holtermann Street car park: open from 7am to10pm, entry from Holtermann Street. 
  • Hume Street car park: open from 7am to 10pm, entry from Pole Lane 
  • Nicholson Street car park: open from 7am to 10pm, entry from Nicholson Street 
  • Alexander Street car park: open from 7am to 10pm, entry from Nicholson Street
