Everest Carnival: Everest Day

Ticketing information 

Valid pre-purchased tickets to Everest Carnival 2024 race days at Randwick Racecourse between 21 September and 5 November (inclusive) include travel to and from Royal Randwick Racecourse on the following transport services – just show your event ticket or ATC Members card to transport staff when boarding: 

• Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink services (bounded by Bomaderry, Goulburn, Bathurst, Scone and Dungog stations) 
• Sydney Buses 
• Sydney Metro services. 
• Sydney and Newcastle Light Rail services 
• Sydney and Newcastle Ferries 

Remember to keep your event ticket safe for your return journey or you'll need to use your Opal card or contactless payment method, as you must have a valid ticket when travelling on public transport. Your event ticket is valid on the modes of public transport listed above until 4am the following day. 

Note: an additional train station access fee applies for travel to or from Domestic and International Airport stations. The access fee is not covered by your event ticket travel entitlements.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city.  

The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services in both directions between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham.  

Please note that due to planned weekend trackwork, Metro services will not run between Tallawong and Sydenham. Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only. You may need to catch a replacement bus to Chatswood where you can connect with train services to the city. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

At Wynyard or Central, connect with light rail services to Royal Randwick on the L2 Randwick Line or to Kensington on the L3 Kingsford Line.

The closest station to Royal Randwick Racecourse is Central.  

Change at Central for a light rail service to Royal Randwick on the L2 Line leaving from Chalmers Street. 

Alternatively, catch an L3 Line service to Kensington to get within walking distance of the racecourse.  

Trackwork

Planned weekend trackwork is taking place Saturday 19 October on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner 

• M1 Metro Line: Metro services will not run between Tallawong and Sydenham. Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only. Use train services between Chatswood, the City and Sydenham. 
• T1 Western Line: From 6.20am to 10.30am, some trains make an extra stop at Burwood. 
• T2 Leppington Line: From 6.20am to 10.30am, buses replace Inner West trains between Ashfield and Central. Leppington trains make extra stops at Homebush and Croydon. Some T1 Western Line trains also make an extra stop at Burwood, and some T9 Northern Line trains make an extra stop at Ashfield. 
• T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: From 6.20am to 10.30am, buses replace Inner West trains between Ashfield and Central. Trains run between Liverpool and Lidcombe via Regents Park only. You will need to change services to continue your journey. Leppington trains make extra stops at Homebush and Croydon. Some T1 Western Line trains make an extra stop at Burwood, and some T9 Northern Line trains make an extra stop at Ashfield. 
• T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: From 6.30am to 12.15pm, some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. Some trains start or end at Hurstville or Sutherland. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. Trains may leave from different platforms, please check indicator screens before boarding. 
• T9 Northern Line: From 6.20am to 10.30am, some trains make an extra stop at Ashfield. 
• Hunter Line: From 9pm to 4.20am, buses replace trains between Newcastle Interchange and Telarah. 
• South Coast Line: From 6.30am to 12.15pm, some trains make extra stops between Sutherland and Hurstville.

A number of regular Sydney Buses travel between the city and eastern suburbs via Anzac Parade and Alison Road, making stops near the racecourse, including routes 339, 374, 375 and 396.

Catch one of the many ferry services to Circular Quay and change for a light rail service to Royal Randwick on the L2 and L3 lines.

L1 Dulwich Hill Line

L1 Dulwich Hill Line light rail services run between Central Station (Grand Concourse) and Dulwich Hill via Darling Harbour and the Inner West. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner. 

At Central, connect with L2 or L3 Line light rail services to Royal Randwick or Kingsford stops (leaving from Chalmers Street) to get within walking distance of the racecourse. See our Royal Randwick Transport Map  (pdf 371KB)for more information. 

L2 Randwick and L3 Kingsford Lines

L2 Randwick Line light rail services run between Circular Quay and Randwick via Central Station (Chalmers Street) and L3 Kingsford Line services run between Circular Quay and Juniors Kingsford via Central Station (Chalmers Street). Services run regularly from 5am to 1am daily. Plan your trip using Trip Planner.

Catch a light rail service to Royal Randwick on the L2 Randwick Line or Kensington on the L3 Kingsford Line to get within walking distance of the racecourse. The Royal Randwick stop is located on Alison Road just across from the racecourse. Traffic will be heavier than usual as attendees travel to and from the event. Allow extra travel time and be aware of increased pedestrian activity in the area You can find real-time traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.

If you have to drive or are using taxis or rideshare, allow additional travel time.

Trams are running between the CBD and South East so pedestrians are reminded to exercise caution around the tram tracks and cross at designated pedestrian crossings.

Taxi entry to Royal Randwick Racecourse is via the Ascot Street entrance where there is a secure taxi rank for drop offs and pick-ups. 

Please note that taxis, rideshare and hire cars are not permitted to stop on Alison Road, Ascot Street or Doncaster Avenue. 

A dedicated drop-off zone will also be set up on the western side of Darley Road.  

Ride share exclusion zones: There will be restrictions on rideshare pick up locations from 3pm to 8pm due to expected heavy traffic in the area before, during and after the event. Pick-ups on sections of Alison Road, Ascot Street, King Street, John Lane and Doncaster Avenue will be restricted during this time. You will need to select a pick-up location away from the racecourse.

Parking

There is free parking in the Infield car park on-site, entry via High Street opposite UNSW. 

Members Private Reserved Parking is available in the multi-deck car park, entry via Ascot Street. Patrons must display their “members car park permit” at all times. 

Special Event Clearways 

Special event clearways will be in place at the following times and locations: 

• 4am – 7pm: Darley Road between Alison Road and Centennial Park round-a-bout (western side) 
• 8am – 7pm: Ascot Street between Doncaster Avenue and Randwick Racecourse Ascot Street entry (both sides) 
• 3pm – 7pm: High Street between UNSW Gate 2 and Anzac Parade (southern side) 

Clearways are strict no-parking zones for all vehicle types and apply even to local residents and TfNSW Mobility Scheme Permit holders. Check signs carefully as vehicles left in clearways will be towed and a fee applies. If your vehicle is towed, you can search your vehicle registration at the Find My Car website to find its new location, or alternatively call 132 701 to speak to an operator.

Parking

Accessible parking: Disabled car parking is available in the Infield car park, entry via High Street opposite UNSW. A disabled parking sticker must be prominently displayed in the vehicle at all times.
