Important Travel Advice

Fans are encouraged to plan ahead and consider all the available travel options.

The closest station to the stadium is Broadmeadow on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line. The stadium is a short walk from the station.

Remember, you'll need to use an Opal card or contactless payment card/device when travelling on public transport to and from the event. Register your details online at Opal or via the Opal Travel app ahead of time.

If you’re driving, travel with your group and pre-book stadium parking online ahead of time or use nearby local parking.

Allow extra travel time as traffic may be heavier than usual as fans travel to and from the match. You can find real-time updates on traffic conditions at livetraffic.com.

Opal

You can use an Opal card for all modes of public transport in Sydney and surrounding regions, including metro, trains, buses, ferries and light rail.

Remember to top up your Opal card before you travel to avoid waiting in line at top-up machines. You can top up your card online or at an Opal retailer.

More ways to pay

If you have a contactless-enabled American Express, Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card, or a linked device, you can use it to pay for your travel by tapping on and tapping off at Opal card readers. Available on all public transport, contactless payments are another way to pay on the Opal network. Adult Opal fare pricing applies and you will receive Opal benefits, including daily and weekly fare caps.

Sydney Metro services are high-frequency, driverless trains running between Sydney’s north-west and south-west via the city. 

The M1 Line operates turn up-and-go Metro services in both directions between Tallawong, Chatswood and Sydenham. 

Metro services start running from early morning, every 5 to 10 minutes, until late at night. 

Please note that due to planned weekend trackwork, Metro services will not run between Tallawong and Sydenham. Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only. You may need to catch a replacement bus to Epping to connect with a Central Coast & Newcastle Line train to Broadmeadow. Plan your trip using the Trip Planner.

The closest station to McDonald Jones Stadium is Broadmeadow on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line. From the station, the stadium is approximately a 15 to 20-minute walk away (1.5km). 

Trackwork

Weekend trackwork is taking place on Saturday 19 October on the following lines and may affect how you travel to and from the event. Plan ahead using the Trip Planner.

  • M1 Metro Line: Metro services will not run between Tallawong and Sydenham. Buses replace services between Tallawong and Chatswood only. Use train services between Chatswood, the City and Sydenham. 
  • T1 Western Line: From 6.20am to 10.30am, some trains make an extra stop at Burwood. 
  • T2 Leppington Line: From 6.20am to 10.30am, buses replace Inner West trains between Ashfield and Central. Leppington trains make extra stops at Homebush and Croydon. Some T1 Western Line trains also make an extra stop at Burwood, and some T9 Northern Line trains make an extra stop at Ashfield. 
  • T3 Liverpool & Inner West Line: From 6.20am to 10.30am, buses replace Inner West trains between Ashfield and Central. Trains run between Liverpool and Lidcombe via Regents Park only. You will need to change services to continue your journey. Leppington trains make extra stops at Homebush and Croydon. Some T1 Western Line trains make an extra stop at Burwood, and some T9 Northern Line trains make an extra stop at Ashfield. 
  • T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra Line: From 6.30am to 12.15pm, some trains run to a changed timetable and stopping pattern. Some trains start or end at Hurstville or Sutherland. You may need to change trains to continue your journey. Trains may leave from different platforms, please check indicator screens before boarding. 
  • T9 Northern Line: From 6.20am to 10.30am, some trains make an extra stop at Ashfield. 
  • Hunter Line: From 9pm to 4.20am, buses replace trains between Newcastle Interchange and Telarah. 
  • South Coast Line: From 6.30am to 12.15pm, some trains make extra stops between Sutherland and Hurstville.

The closest bus stops to McDonald Jones Stadium are on Turton Road and Lambton Road. Regular routes 13, 23, 25, 26 and 27 run towards the stadium.

Ferries run between Stockton and Queens Wharf approximately every 20 minutes.

At Queens Wharf, change for a light rail service to Newcastle Interchange to connect with trains to Broadmeadow.

Alternatively, catch a route 13 bus from King Street near Perkins Street to Lambton Road to get within walking distance of the stadium.

Newcastle Light Rail services run from 5am to 1am daily between Newcastle Interchange in Wickham and Pacific Park in Newcastle East. With six convenient stops, it’s easy to get around Newcastle’s city centre and connect with train, bus and ferry services.

Catch a light rail service to Newcastle Interchange and change for a train to Broadmeadow where the stadium is within short walking distance.

Traffic may be heavier than usual on roads approaching the stadium as fans travel to the match. Allow some extra travel time on roads including Turton Road and Griffiths Road.

Drop-Off Zone: Passenger drop-offs are permitted in the allocated 10-minute loading zone inside the McDonald Jones Stadium car park. Entry is via the northern driveway off Turton Road.

The nearest taxi rank to the stadium is located on Young Road, Broadmeadow. Taxis can be accessed after the event by following the signs to Young Road.

Prepaid Parking: Parking on game days and for major events is only available for vehicles with a prepaid parking ticket. Visit Ticketmaster – McDonald Jones Stadium to purchase a parking ticket online or go to the Ticketmaster box office at McDonald Jones Stadium.

Disabled Parking: designated areas available in close proximity to each of the stadium's accessible entries. To purchase a Mobility parking please phone Ticketmaster on 136 100 or visit the Ticketmaster box office at McDonald Jones Stadium.

Drop-Off Zone: motorists may drop off patrons in the stadium's car park in the allocated 10-minute loading zone, accessible via the north driveway (near the Knights supporter store) off Turton Road.
