Breathe easy: Zero emission buses are here and growing
You can look forward to a quieter commute as the state transitions to zero emission buses.
Zero Emission Buses is multi-billion-dollar programme that will phase out over 8,000 diesel and natural gas buses across NSW to zero emission buses.
From 2025, 11 bus depots in Greater Sydney will be converted to support zero-emission technology and a new electric bus fleet.
Our plan is for all buses across Greater Sydney will be running on renewable energy by 2035.
Quieter rides, better for the environment, no exhaust fumes
Zero emission buses give you another reason to use public transport. They are better for our environment. The shift to zero emission buses will eliminate bus exhaust fumes. The buses are also quieter, providing you a more comfortable journey
A vision for the future
The zero emission bus programme is part of the NSW Government’s broader commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
