Onboard food and drink

Food service on NSW TrainLink Regional trains

Regional train services include a buffet car serving drinks, snacks, and hot and cold meals. Please be aware operational issues may occasionally result in the buffet car not being available on certain services.

Please note: When NSW TrainLink Regional Trains are replaced with Coaches due to trackwork, with
the exception of water and small snacks, food and drink is not permitted on coach services. Refreshment stops may be provided.

From the bar items are only available to persons over 18 and are available from midday to 11pm. NSW TrainLink serves alcohol responsibly and asks customers to take beverages back to their seat to enjoy. Two drink maximum per customer each hour and no BYO alcohol to be consumed. Alcohol is served from midday until 11pm only.

Please note:

  • Some menu items may be substituted with similar products if they are unavailable.
  • Prices are subject to change.
  • Product availability can change at short notice, and certain items may sell out.
  • We welcome clean, reusable hot beverage cups with lids.
  • Water fountains are available for your convenience.
  • For payment, we prefer credit card or EFTPOS where possible.

A range of vegetarian and gluten-free snacks and meals are available on board. We suggest placing an order for speciality items in the buffet car as soon as you board to avoid disappointment.

Allergies

We recommend guests who suffer from allergies (such as peanut allergies) bring their own snacks or meals as we are unable to guarantee that our meals are completely allergen free.

Bringing your own food onboard

You can bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages on board train services.

Please keep in mind we are unable to provide refrigeration or heating of meals.

Perishable food items including meat, seafood, fruit and vegetables are not permitted as checked luggage on any NSW TrainLink Regional service.

Alcoholic beverages

Alcohol can be purchased from the buffet car.

You can not bring your own alcohol to consume on the train.

On board staff are available to serve food and drink to any customer who is unable to leave their seat.

You can pay with cash, debit cards and credit cards. EFTPOS mobile reception can be intermittent on selected routes, so to avoid disappointment it’s advisable to carry some cash for purchases.
