With changes to transport services in southwest Sydney, riding and walking could be a great part of your commute. Explore riding and walking routes that connect you to alternative train or metro stations. We’ve got lots of tips and tricks to make your journey easier, including free courses and events in your area to help you build your skills.

Southwest Link bike riding routes

Southwest Link bike riding routes offer you a convenient way to reach Sydenham, Tempe and Redfern. These routes mostly use existing cycleways, shared paths, and quiet streets — just follow the pink Southwest Link bike riding signs.

You can get a free bike tune up, boost your bike skills, learn essential bike maintenance, or become part of a bike bus community.

Bike parking at Sydenham

There is lots of bike parking at Sydenham Station, including 90 secure parking spaces in Opal-enabled bike sheds. 

You don’t need to book your space in a bike shed, just link your Opal card beforehand.

Did you know?

You’ll find bike parking spaces, bike sheds and bike lockers available at many stations, wharves and bus interchanges.

Slowly does it!

We’re lowering road speeds around stations and along bike routes to make it safer for you to get to where you need to go.

Speeds will reduce to 40km/h along key roads near Southwest Link bus stops and Southwest Link bike routes in the Sydenham to Bankstown corridor.

What is Southwest Link?

As part of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest project, the T3 Bankstown Line will close between Sydenham and Bankstown for up to 12 months while the line is upgraded to Metro standards.

Southwest Link is an integrated transport plan of the transport options available during the closure, including Southwest Link buses, metro, trains, local buses, light rail, riding and walking routes.
